Amazon has made it easier to send back stuff you don’t want.
In a deal between two commercial powerhouses, Amazon has just announced an arrangement where returns can now be brought back to any Staples store.
The returns can be dropped off without labels or boxes at the full-service shipping area inside any one of Staples’ 298 locations across the country,
Amazon says the move is being made simply for the convenience of customers who can now return items without having to go through the hassle of boxing and shipping.
The Amazon/Staples arrangement has already been in use in the U.S. and a pilot run in Alberta proved successful which prompted the national roll-out in Canada.
“Our goal is to make buying online as easy as possible, and help customers love their purchases,” said Gopal Pillai, Vice President, Worldwide Returns and ReCommerce at Amazon. “But we know there may be times when a customer needs to make a return, which is why we work hard to continue to raise the bar in offering a hassle-free returns experience.”
Amazon customers can return items at Staples stores after generating a QR code by visiting the Amazon.ca “Your Orders” page online or in the mobile app, clicking “Return or Replace Items” and following the prompts. Customers can then bring eligible items to the drop-off location in the original manufacturer’s packaging for them to be packed and shipped at no extra cost.
Rachel Huckle, CEO, of Staples Canada, said she believed Amazon recognized that Staples was able to meet their requirements and the needs of customers.
“Whether you’re a business, a parent or a student, Staples is committed to bringing essential services like this closer to where you live, work and shop,” she said.
You can find a Staples drop-off location on the company’s website.
