Handgun and ammunition seized in a Brampton drug bust

A Glock pistol, 187 rounds of ammunition and drugs were found in a Brampton bust.

The bust, involving the Tactical Unit, was in the Airport Road and Castlemore Road area in Brampton on today (Oct. 21), Peel Regional Police said in a press release. Police didn’t say if it was a home or businesses that was searched.

Officers seized a Glock 23 .40 calibre firearm with twenty rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber, an extended magazine with a 22 round capacity, 187 rounds of ammunition, and 6.6 pounds of marijuana.

Hardil Kanwal, a 21-year-old man from Brampton, faces the following charges:

  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of the unauthorized possession of a prohibited device
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing

Kanwal was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
