Ontario, Niagara Region, Welland, police, break-in, residential

The public’s help is being requested after an SUV drove by a Nagara on the Lake home and fired gunshots at it on two separate occasions.

On Wednesday (July 24), a resident who lives on Young Crescent reported to police that they returned from being away from the home for an extended time and found damage to the front of it.

A Niagara Regional Police investigation determined that the unoccupied home was struck by gunshots on July 1, 2024, before the shooter fled the area.

No one was injured, nor had any suspect been identified.

Police were called back to the same home the next evening (July 25) around 10:37 p.m. after reports of gun shots having just struck the residence. The house was occupied at the time, but no one was injured in the shooting.

Police would find over five bullet impact damage points to the front of the Young Crescent home.

Detectives determined that an SUV had pulled up to the house and then began shooting, before fleeing the area.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police are asking any residents or business owners who may have been in the area with cell phones, closed circuit video recording or dash camera footage between 9 pm. and 11:30 p.m. on July 25 to review their footage of the area and contact police if they find anything suspicious.
