Gun and drugs seized as Toronto man charged in Mississauga nightclub altercation

A Toronto man is facing numerous weapons and other charges after an early morning altercation at a bar in Mississauga’s east end in late April.

Peel Regional Police said in a news release issued Friday afternoon they made the arrest at an address in Toronto on May 28. A handgun and some drugs were seized by officers at the time.

The man has been charged in connection with an incident that took place at a “licensed premise” in the area of Dixie Road and Eglinton Avenue on Saturday, April 27 at about 1:30 a.m.

According to investigators, the altercation took place between a man and one other person. The man, who fled the area before responding officers showed up, was believed to have been armed with a handgun at the time, police said.

Tyvel Brewster-Peters, 26, of Toronto, is charged with:

  • occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm (two counts)
  • knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm (two counts)
  • possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm (two counts)
  • disguise with intent
  • carrying concealed weapon
  • obstruct peace officer
  • possession of opioid

He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
