Mississauga’s Peter Shim and six members of his family couldn’t be happier that he decided to switch things up a bit and buy a group lottery ticket instead of playing alone.
That June 15 Lotto Max ticket won the group of Mississauga residents a $1 million Maxmillions prize. They usually don’t play the lottery as a group.
“I usually play by myself. I won $30,000 on Pick 4 last year and that’s the game I usually play,” said Shim while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up the group’s winnings.
“I went to visit my brother-in-law with my wife, and I bought this ticket on the way home. The next day, I discovered it was a winning ticket. I was very happy and excited.”
The group of winners also includes Bridget Shim, Annie Kong, Matthew Kong, Silvester Leong, Doris Leong and Lena Ujim.
“Everyone is very happy about this win,” said Shim. “I plan to do some home renovations with my share.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Botros Convenience, on Tenth Line in Mississauga.
