Olympian and Caledon’s own Tess Routliffe has added another Gold medal to her collection following a stellar performance on the opening day of the Para Swimming World Championships in Manchester.

The competition is in its 11 year, and Routliffe topped the podium on Monday winning gold in the women’s SM7 200 individual medley in a time of 2:57.77.

Routliffe started swimming at age three with Dorado Stars in Caledon. Originally from New Zealand, Routliffe was born with hypochondroplasia – a skeletal dysplasia which causes a shortened stature and limbs.

A rising star in the para-swimming world, Routliffe entered world competitions in 2019 and has since claimed Silver at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio and Silver and Bronze medals at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships.

The Para Swimming World Championships run from July 31 to Aug. 6 in Manchester.
