brampton driver speeder suspended pulled off the road

Police say they’ve temporarily pulled the licence of a driver from Brampton caught driving more than 100 km/h in a 50 km/h zone in Guelph.

The traffic stop happened around 3 p.m. on Monday when the Guelph Police Service says an officer with the traffic enforcement unit was working speed enforcement on Woodlawn Road East near Country Club Drive in Guelph.

Police say a 21-year-old driver was clocked driving at 108 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

The driver from Brampton was pulled over and charged with speeding and stunt driving offences, and the driver’s licences were suspended for 30 days while the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

With students returning to school this month police agencies across Ontario are urging drivers to take extra caution and slow down while on the roads.

Stunt driving convictions in Ontario can lead to a minimum licence suspension of one year, a minimum fine of $2,000 and six demerit points.
