A fundraiser for a man struck and killed at an intersection in Mississauga will support his family.

Manpreet Singh, 30, came to Canada just one month ago, according to the GoFundMe.

“He was the only child of his parents,” the GoFundMe reads. “He left behind his wife, mother and father.”

Singh died after he was hit by a truck at Courtneypark Drive and Edwards Boulevard in Mississauga on Dec. 13.

Peel Regional Police said they received the call at 6:50 a.m. on Dec. 13, shortly after the man was struck. The vehicle reportedly remained on the scene.

The fundraiser hopes to raise money to help get Singh’s body back to India for the funeral as his mother and father live there.

As of Dec. 20, the GoFundMe had raised more than $25,000 of its $35,000 goal.

Police were seeking witnesses to the collision, and anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to call police at 905-453-2121.
