The Milton GO Train line that runs through Mississauga will be up and running again for Monday morning’s commute.

Metrolinx, the operator of GO Transit, has announced that passengers can expect trains to return to the line tomorrow (Aug. 25) but there may be some schedule adjustments as the service returns to normal.

Thousands of passengers who use the stations in Milton, Lisgar, Meadowvale, Streetsville, Erindale, Cooksville and Dixie were without service last Thursday and Friday when Canadian National Railway Co., and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) locked out workers following a drawn-out contract dispute. The Hamilton GO station was also affected.

On Friday, the federal government ordered the lock-out to end and yesterday the Canada Industrial Relations Board ruled the 9,300 workers could not hit the picket lines on Monday. Instead, the sides have been ordered to go through a binding arbitration process.

The Milton line and the Hamilton station had to close because of shared service with CPKC. All other GO train lines and stations remained open.

Metrolinx said shuttle buses and extra staff will be on standby Monday in case train service is disrupted for any reason.

The lockout not only affected some commuters but also freight traffic across the country.
