Mississauga and Brampton drivers may find themselves paying more than they ever have before at the pump this weekend.
Gas prices are expected to rise across most of the province tomorrow (Saturday, June 4), getting up to $2.11 per litre in Mississauga, Brampton, and other GTA cities.
Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, predicted this increase in prices on Thursday, saying “Unless something changes dramatically, we will be paying $2.109 by Saturday.”
“It’s a full penny higher than what we paid last time we broke our record on May 18, when it was $2.099,” said McTeague.
The recent increases in gas prices are attributed to multiple factors including shortages, sanctions against Russia following the Ukraine invasion, and higher demand for gas as the warmer weather sees more residents going out and hitting the road.
