An east Mississauga garden centre is still closed months after it was damaged due to flooding in a major summer storm.

Sheridan Nurseries confirmed to INsauga.com on Wednesday that its location on Burnhamthorpe Road East, near Mill Road, remains closed after it experienced “significant flood damage” on July 16.

“As a result, we have had to temporarily close to address damage to products, our building, and our property,” Victoria Mulvale, a spokesperson for Sheridan Nurseries, said in an email.

Mulvale said clean-up is “progressing well,” but it’s not known when the location will reopen.

“The health and safety of our employees and guests remain our top priority, and there’s still significant restoration and rebuilding work to be done,” Mulvale said.

She noted that Sheridan Nurseries does have other locations, with one of them on Southdown Road in Mississauga.

The July 16 storm dropped huge amounts of rain on the city; 97.8 mm was recorded at Toronto Pearson Airport.

Roads and homes were flooded in what Mississauga Fire Platoon Chief Steve Kraft called “a lifetime event.”
