Garbage piles up in Mississauga parks on the weekend

As the summer weather starts and people head outdoors, more garbage is left in Mississauga parks on the weekends.
At least that was the case this past weekend.
Photos show bags placed beside bins and garbage strewn around parks in Port Credit, according to a post in the Port Credits Friends Facebook group.
“This is what is like Sunday morning June 18 and Monday morning June 19,” the post reads. “It is disgusting.”
The photos show bags piled up beside bins and litter left around park picnic tables. It’s unclear if the bins are full in all cases but one person noted that garbage is dumped on Front Street South less than 10 feet away from garbage cans.
And another person said they saw garbage all around an empty bin.
Several people agreed that this is an issue in Mississauga parks.
“This is every Monday morning at Jack Darling in the summer!! Absolutely disgusting!” one person wrote.
“You should see Richards,” another posted.
The post comes just after the City of Mississauga asked residents to pick up garbage, recycling and waste and put it in the proper bins.
“Be responsible when using our parks,” the City of Mississauga wrote in a Facebook post on June 16.
They ask residents to hold onto waste until they find a bin.
“Our Parks staff work hard to keep our parks and trails clean for your enjoyment. Sometimes waste containers fill up,” the city wrote. “If you come across one that’s full, please hold onto your waste until you find one with room.”
People can report full containers or make a complaint through 311 via phone or online.
