Firefighters battled a blaze that saw a part of a home gutted by flames in Brampton on Monday.

The fire happened on Monday afternoon in the area of Castlemore Road and Clarkway Drive, Brampton Fire & Emergency Services said in a statement.

A photo from the scene shared by BFES showed a two-storey home with a two-car garage that had been severely damaged.

The exterior brick of the garage was charred black by smoke and flames, and much of the interior appeared to be burned out. Nearly a dozen firefighters could be seen working to knock down the blaze and BFES said the fire had been brought under control.

Firefighters have finished primary searches of the home and say no injuries were reported.

BFES says that drivers and residents should avoid the area while emergency personnel are on the scene.
