Investigators with the provincial gang unit helped take four handguns, a shotgun and over three kilos of drugs off the streets leading to charges for a man and a woman from Brampton, police say.
The drug bust involved searches at five different locations in Brampton according to the OPP, who say members of the Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team and the Biker Enforcement Unit took part in the raids.
An investigation into suspected drug trafficking in the Niagara region led to the searches where some 1.2 kilograms of suspected cocaine, 2.7 kilograms of suspected fentanyl, 300 grams of suspected MDMA and 11 grams of methamphetamine were found during the raids, police said.
Officers also recovered four handguns and one shotgun, along with more than 845 rounds of ammunition, a prohibited magazine and over $316,000 in Canadian cash.
Police say a 29-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, both from Brampton, were arrested and charged with multiple offences. Investigators say the bust cuts into a drug trafficking network that was running drugs across the GTA.
Michael Navarro, 29 of Brampton, has been charged with 27 offences including multiple trafficking and firearms-related charges.
Kathy Ann Samuels, 32, of Brampton, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine and possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl.
The accused were released from custody and are scheduled to make court appearances in Toronto on Dec. 5.
