For the first time in five years, the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga has a full lineup of entertainment on tap as it prepares for its 2024/25 season.
Officials at Mississauga’s largest arts and culture facility said in a news release the LAC promises “an ambitious and spectacular” lineup of live events for the coming season, which begins Sept. 28.
It marks a much-anticipated return to a full season for the first time since 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic struck, LAC officials said.
“This exciting new season celebrates bringing people back to the theatre and showcasing the arts,” LAC officials said, describing the upcoming program calendar as “bold.”
From symphonies to hip hop, nostalgia to rock ballet and hypnotism to comedy, the new season offers something for many different tastes, according to the LAC.
Mississauga Acting Mayor Martin Reid said the city is excited to “showcase a full roster of live shows once again at the Living Arts Centre.
“We are committed to celebrating global and local artists. This season promises to be a wonderful celebration, bringing the wonder of live performance back to the 2023 Music City of the Year. I encourage everyone to check out the upcoming events happening in Mississauga and to catch a show this season.”
Jodi Robillos, Mississauga’s commissioner of community services, said the upcoming LAC season will be “filled with unforgettable moments.”
She added that “with each performance, the Living Arts Centre reaffirms its position as a performing arts destination within Mississauga.”
The 2024/25 season launches this fall with An Evening With The Fab Four, featuring “uncanny, note-for-note live renditions of the Beatles’ classics,” and Labyrinth in Concert, which features the original Jim Henson and David Bowie screening accompanied by a live orchestra.
Tickets are now available. Visit the Living Arts Centre website for more information.
Opened in 1997, the LAC welcomes some 400,000 visitors each year, the city said. Ongoing renovation work is expected to upgrade several parts of the venue and is scheduled to be completed throughout 2024 with additional upgrades to be budgeted for and started in 2025.
