A motorist in Mississauga has been charged with careless driving after crashing into a fuel tanker on a busy highway, police say.

The collision happened around 10:50 p.m. on Monday on Highway 401 express near Highway 410, the OPP Highway Safety Division says.

Police say the driver of a four-door sedan “lost control” while driving on the highway and collided with a fuel tanker. The tanker was empty at the time of the crash, police said.

A photo of the crash shared by police shows the car’s front end wedged underneath the fuel truck.

No injuries were reported but police say the driver of the sedan was charged with careless driving.

Police have not released any details about the accused.
