Four lanes on the QEW in Mississauga will be shut down for parts of evenings and overnights tonight through Friday (Sept. 7 to 9) as crews continue work on rehabilitation of the highway bridge over the Credit River.
Officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project, who are overseeing the massive undertaking, say both eastbound and westbound lanes will be impacted by the latest in a series of ongoing closures.
The following lane closures will be in effect Sept. 7 to 9:
- QEW eastbound from Erin Mills Pkwy. to Mississauga Rd.–first lane from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.
- QEW westbound from the Credit River bridge to Erin Mills Pkwy.–first lane from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.
Project officials say traffic disruptions are anticipated for the three nights and that closure dates/work schedule may change due to the weather.
Meanwhile, project leaders have also planned seven consecutive nights of lane/ramp closures starting Sept. 11 in an effort to get as much work in before winter arrives.
The following lane closures will be in effect Sept. 11 through 17:
- QEW eastbound from Erin Mills Pkwy. to the Credit River bridge–first lane from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.
- QEW westbound from Hurontario St. to Erin Mills Pkwy.–first lane from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly, second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.
In addition to the lane closures, the QEW westbound off-ramp to Mississauga Rd. will be closed to traffic the nights/overnights of Sept. 13 and 14.
On those two nights, the off-ramp’s first lane will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. with a full off-ramp closure slated for midnight to 5 a.m.
Notices of temporary lane and ramp closures on the QEW in Mississauga have been coming fast and furious in the past month.
QEW/Credit River Improvement Project officials have been putting out closure notices almost every other day.
As work continues on the Credit River bridge project, drivers and area residents can expect ongoing traffic disruptions to impact part of the QEW and other areas in the vicinity of Mississauga Rd. and the highway in the coming weeks and months.
Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario St. to Mississauga Rd. is expected to impact traffic for the duration of construction.
