The OPP Highway Safety Division has announced that the Fort Erie-bound QEW has been closed near the Gilmore Road intersection.
The duration of the closure is unknown at this time.
Although specific reasons for the closure wasn’t revealed, the “Freedom Convoy” of truckers and protesters have a gathering planned for the Peace Bridge between Fort Erie and Buffalo, NY, today (Saturday).

The larger police presence around this planned protest comes as police in Windsor are breaking up a weeklong protest at the Ambassador Bridge to Detroit.
The Province of Ontario has declared a state of emergency and two recent court rulings have handed down injunctions to prevent the blockage of goods coming over the border.
