With COVID-19 cases dropping rapidly, Peel Region (Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon) have hit a new milestone this previous week: Having no neighbourhoods in Ontario’s 50 highest COVID-19 positivity areas.

Additionally, this is the first week in which Peel has a lower COVID-19 positivity than the province overall.

Toronto-based research group ICES ranked all 34 public health units in Ontario for the week of June 27 to July 3 based on their percent positivity (percentage of positive tests in the area).

Peel, which regularly topped the list during the height of the pandemic, is now listed 14th at just 1.03% positivity.

Ontario overall is listed 13th at 1.16%.
