Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services respond to a townhouse complex in Mississauga for a fire causing mass evacuation.

Police received a call shortly after 2 p.m. about an apartment building on fire in the area of Glen Erin Dr. and Meadowvale Town Centre Circle.

Emergency services say the fire ran through the attic and into the roof space.

Crews had to battle the blaze from multiple storeys up, standing on the balcony of a unit.

About 36 units in the building were affected by the fire.

Multiple neighbouring houses have been evacuated as well.

Peel Regional Police say there are no reports of physical injuries at this time.

Westbound Battleford Rd. at Glen Erin Dr. is currently blocked due to the ongoing effort by Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and take alternate routes.

Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services advises residents of the townhouse complex to who do not have insurance to travel to Meadowvale Community Centre. Social services and Canadian Red Cross is set up to organize shelter, food, clothing and medication.
