Car theft arrests in Mississauga.

Two men face weapons and other charges after police chased down a pair of suspects who fled a stolen luxury vehicle on foot Wednesday morning in Mississauga’s north end.

Officers on patrol near Goreway Drive and Brandon Gate Drive in the Malton area of the city spotted a stolen Lexus 350 at about 8 a.m., Peel Regional Police said in a news release on Thursday.

The officers are members of the 12 Division Community Incident Response Team, which proactively patrols areas of the city in search of specific types of crimes and offenders.

“Officers were able to act quickly and stop the vehicle from fleeing, which resulted in police cruisers being damaged and two suspects fleeing on foot,” police said.

Police arrested two men after a brief foot chase in connection with drug, stolen property and weapons offences.

Bhawanjeet Singh, 23, and Gurdeep Singh, 28, both of no fixed address, are each charged with dangerous operation, mischief over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The latter is also charged with possession of a controlled substance and breach of release order.

Both were held for bail hearings in Brampton court.
