A Mississauga man faces charges after a wheel fell off a moving car and smashed into another vehicle on Highway 400 north of Toronto on Monday afternoon.

After the flying wheel struck the one car, that vehicle then crashed into another, Ontario Provincial Police Highway Safety Division officers said in a post to social media.

One person was taken to hospital with what police said were minor injuries as a result of the crash, which happened in the northbound lanes north of Highway 89 near Bradford and involved the three vehicles.

Two lanes were blocked for the investigation, but were reopened later on Monday.

A 25-year-old man from Mississauga has been charged with operating an unsafe vehicle (part detached), using an unauthorized licence plate and having no insurance.
