Parts of southern Ontario could be at risk of flooding, again.

There is an “elevated flood threat today across parts of southern Ontario, including Don River” on Tuesday (July 30), the Weather Network posted on their website.

Rainfall rates of 10 to 20 mm per hour are possible and up to 50 mm an hour could fall in parts of southern Ontario, according to the weather forecaster.

The Weather Network said there is some uncertainty about where the storms will track but the GTA could be impacted later in the evening.

As of 8:30 a.m., there were no weather alerts for southern Ontario on Environment and Climate Change Canada. But later, a special weather statement was issued for heavy rain and slow-moving thunderstorms Tuesday for parts of southwest Ontario including Kitchener and London.

A mainly cloudy day with a 60 per cent chance of showers along with a risk of a thunderstorm is expected in the GTA, Environment Canada said.

The heat is continuing with a high of 28 C, feeling more like 36 C with the humidex. The temperature could drop to 20 C overnight. There is also a 60 per cent chance of showers with a risk of a thunderstorm this evening and after midnight.
