Heavy rainfall in Mississauga today has caused widespread flooding, impacting several areas across the city. In one of the latest incidents near Heartland Town Centre, some vehicles have been left stranded due to water levels.

Peel Regional Police have cordoned off a section of Heartland Town Centre near a Harvey’s restaurant due to large pooling of water.

With help from the local fire department, officers have blocked off exits from the plaza leading towards McLaughlin Road at Britannia Road.

The flooding comes after Environment Canada issued two weather advisories this morning, which were later upgraded to four. These included a warning for a potential tornado and others for heavy rain and thunderstorms, bringing 40 mm or more of precipitation.

As of this afternoon, Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services have blocked off the following roads:

Officials have not given an ETA as to when the roadways will be safe enough to reopen to motorists.

Peel police are urging individuals to use alternate routes and to not drive through the flooded areas.
