Update: Flood closes major road in Mississauga

A major artery through Mississauga has completely flooded due to a broken water main, trapping motorists.
According to Peel Regional Police, they received a call about the break at Lakeshore Rd. and Lorne Park Rd. at 4:36 p.m. Two drivers were trapped by the onrushing waters with one climbing up to the roof of his vehicle.

Fire crews arrived on the scene by 5:30 p.m. and have since gotten the man down from the roof. Per Peel police, they are now working to get the other driver out of their car.
Numerous residents in the area have also called 911 to report flooding in their basements.
As a result of the bust water main, police have closed down Lakeshore Rd. for about 2.5 kilometres between Lorne Park Rd. and Mississauga Rd.
In addition to police and fire, both Ontario and Peel Region repair crews are at the scene working to repair the break. However, they have no estimated time of repair as yet.
Update 6 p.m.: Heavy flooding continues on Lakeshore Rd. and crews are continuing repair work. Police have confirmed that no one has been hurt in the flood.
Update 9:30 p.m.: Repair crews have managed to shut off the flow of water under Lakeshore Rd. However, the break has not yet been fixed and the road will remain closed overnight for repairs and clean-up.
