Flights into and out of Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga could be delayed on Monday afternoon into the evening and nighttime hours as wet and windy weather conditions move into the area.
Officials at Pearson urge travellers and those picking up passengers to check the flight status with the airline or visit the Pearson Airport website for up-to-date information on flight schedules.
“Flights arriving and departing Toronto Pearson may experience delays due to strong winds and rain in the area,” airport officials said in a post to social media Monday afternoon. “Weather conditions are expected to impact operations into the evening.”
Weather forecasts show the potential for showers Monday afternoon into the early evening at Pearson and surrounding areas.
The forecasts also show anticipated wind gusts of between 43 km/h and 51 km/h at the airport and Toronto/Mississauga area. Wind gusts, which can create dangerous crosswinds, have the potential to be more of a safety issue for flights than the rain, officials note.
