Five flights, 28 rows affected by COVID-19 at Pearson Airport

The federal government is reporting five new flights with COVID-19 cases recently at Pearson Airport.

That includes one domestic flight which departed the airport for Calgary on April 25. Affected rows are currently unknown.

On April 23, four international flights landed at Pearson from abroad with confirmed cases of the virus. At least seven rows were affected on each flight.

Flight numbers are down after the federal government began suspending incoming passenger flights from India and Pakistan for the next month, as cases of COVID-19 continue to surge in both countries.

The flight ban went into effect at 11:30 p.m. on April 22.

According to the federal government, a row is considered affected if it’s three rows (two rows for business class) behind or in front of a row where a seated person is confirmed to have COVID-19 “during a period when they may have been infectious to others.”

Passengers who were sitting in the affected rows — or all passengers on the flight if rows aren’t specified — are advised to self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days and contact public health if they start showing symptoms of the virus.

All flight data is listed on the federal government’s website.
