Fire crews are working to knock down a two-alarm blaze at home in Brampton that’s led to two schools being put on shelter-in-place orders.

Brampton Fire & Emergency Service (BFES) said on Tuesday morning the fire broke out at a home in the area of Edenbrook Hill Drive and Bovaird Drive in Brampton.

A photo of the fire shared by BFE shows a plume of smoke and steam coming from a two-storey home while several firefighters and an aerial hose attack the flames from above and below.

BFES Chief Bill Boyes said no injuries have been reported.

The fire has led Peel Regional Police to put Edenbrook Hill Public School and St. Angela Merici Catholic Elementary School under shelter-in-place orders as a precaution

Residents can expect to see emergency crews on the scene and in the area while they work to get the fire under control and investigate what led to the fire.

Drivers should avoid the area and find alternate routes if possible.

A two-alarm fire is a blaze that requires additional firefighting resources or assistance from other departments.

Fire crews have been kept busy this week as Tuesday’s blaze is the second house fire in Brampton in several days.

Firefighters worked to knock down a blaze at a home in downtown Brampton on the weekend at a residence in the area of West Street and Queen Street West.

Crews were able to bring the blaze under control and no injuries were reported.
