As snowy, wet conditions continue so do crashes making the Wednesday morning commute a hazardous one.
An empty FedEx tractor-trailer transport crashed on the Hwy. 407 westbound ramp to Hwy. 401, said OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt in a tweet on Wednesday (Nov. 16) around 8:25 a.m.
The truck caught the slush on the edge of the road and the driver lost control, mounted the guard rail, went over the concrete barrier and jack-knifed on the ramp, said Schmidt. The back trailer took out a steel rail on the other side of the ramp.
Schmidt said the driver was OK.
The truck completely blocked the ramp. Crews were on scene to remove the truck but Schmidt said it would be a few more hours before the ramp was clear.
This is one of many crashes in the snowy weather, which seems to have caught drivers by surprise. An early morning crash also closed lanes near Pearson Airport.
“This is winter driving, so please drive to the conditions, slow down and be careful out there,” Schmidt said.
