Travellers now have more options to get to Mexico with the introduction of a new Air Canada route flying out of Pearson Airport in Mississauga.
Pearson officials announced via social media today that Air Canada has launched its latest route, which will take travellers to Monterrey, Mexico four times a week.
The flights will operate year-round and offer 30 per cent shorter flight times, airport officials say.
Monterrey, capital of the northeastern state of Nuevo Leon in Mexico, is also the North American country’s second-largest city, behind Mexico City.
Air Canada continues to expand its schedule as more people return to air travel in a post-pandemic world.
The country’s flagship carrier announced in September that it will increase flights to many European and United Kingdom destinations from Pearson Airport as of next spring and summer.
Additional flights from Pearson to Athens, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Lisbon, London, Manchester, Rome and Venice are on tap in 2024, Air Canada officials said earlier.
Meanwhile, information collected monthly by aviation data firm Cirium shows that Air Canada continues to be at or near the bottom in terms of on-time flight performance among major North American airlines.
