A famous Filipino potato restaurant has opened a new location at Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga.

Potato Corner, a flavoured french fries restaurant from the Philippines, had a pop-up shop in Square One in the Food District this past summer and has now set up shop in the former Basil Box location.

Basil Box closed earlier this year after nearly 10 years at Square One. The healthy food restaurant that offered combinations of Thai and Vietnamese ingredients opened in the mall in July 2015.

Potato Corner has restaurants across the globe but the Square One location is the first in Ontario. There are locations in British Columbia and Alberta.

The menu includes 10 flavours of fries: cheese, sour cream, mango habanero, truffle, sweetcorn, cheddar jalapeno, peri-peri, barbecue, chilli barbecue and all dressed.

The restaurant started out as a single food cart in a Philippines night market and began franchising in 1993, according to the website.

“Today, it has grown from small carts into in-line stores found in almost every corner of the world – in malls, schools, hospitals, bus stations, amusement parks, and even tourist destinations in multiple countries. In every corner of the world, someone wants Potato Corner.,” the website states.

The restaurant is located next to Taco Bell in Food Central.
