Family of Mississauga homicide victim pleads for help in identifying suspects

The family of a 55-year-old Mississauga homicide victim released a statement Monday (Oct. 21) encouraging anyone with information on the persons responsible to step forward.

WEI Ruo Zhao of Mississauga died after an altercation in the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

Peel Regional Police responded at 3:47 a.m. to reports of an altercation at a residence near Joan Drive and Central Parkway Drive. Upon arrival, officers located Zhao suffering from obvious signs of trauma.

He was transported to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Two other men were found injured and taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A family statement said that Zhao was “tragically taken” from the family during a forced entry into the home that night.

“Our family is devastated by this senseless and heartbreaking act, and we are seeking justice for Mr. WEI Ruo Zhao,” read the family statement. “We are appealing to anyone who may have information about the suspect of the events of that night.

“If you saw anything suspicious, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, please come forward. Your information could help bring the person responsible to justice and prevent further harm.”

Homicide investigators, along with members of the Zhao family,  are urging anyone with any information to contact the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau at 905-453-2121, extension 3205.

“Your help is crucial to give our family and Mr. WEI Ruo Zhao the justice we deserve,” continued the statement.
