Long weekends are the best weekends, but not everything will be open on Family Day in Brampton on Feb. 19, 2024 during regular business hours.

Here’s what you need to know about what’s open and closed on the Family Day holiday Monday in Brampton.

Open:

  • Movie theatres
  • Shoppers Drug Mart locations
  • Some smaller grocery stores, such as Rabba grocery stores
  • Most convenience stores
  • Some restaurants (call ahead to be sure)
  • Bramalea City Centre will have reduced hours of operation from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Some Brampton Recreation Centres are open for drop-in swimming, skating and sports (call ahead or check online to be sure)
  • Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA)
  • All essential and critical services including Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services, By-Law Enforcement, Road Operations, and Security Services

 

Closed:

  • LCBO stores
  • The Beer Store
  • Most major grocery stores
  • All Brampton Library branches
  • Brampton Animal Shelter
  • Provincial Government offices
  • Banks
  • City Hall and select corporate facilities will be closed on Monday, reopening and resuming walk-in services on Tuesday.
  • COVID-19 vaccine clinics and routine school immunization clinics will be closed

Transit

  • Brampton Transit will operate on a Sunday or holiday service schedule on Family Day.
  • Customer Service counters at all terminals, lost and found and the Clark and Sandalwood facilities will be closed.
  • All TransHelp trips for Monday and Tuesday must be booked by 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb 18.
  • GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule

Garbage

  • Garbage pickup is cancelled on Family Day across Brampton and the Region of Peel. Waste scheduled for pick-up on Monday will be collected on Tuesday instead.
  • All Community Recycling Centres will be closed on Family Day Monday and will return to the regular schedule on Tuesday.
