Family Day in Oakville, Burlington and Milton falls on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024.
While Family Day is not a national statutory holiday, it has been observed in Ontario for the last 16 years.
Here’s what is open and closed in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills on Family Day 2024.
Open:
- Some restaurants will be open for dining and takeout, but call ahead
- Most convenience stores
- Most Shoppers Drug Marts
- Movie theatres
- Canada Post (mail pick-up and delivery will not be affected)
- Federal Government offices
- Some Starbucks (hours may vary at different locations)
- Angela Coughlan Pool in Burlington is open for recreational and lap swimming.
- Skating at Burlington Rotary Centennial Pond. Registration is not required. Residents are encouraged to call the ice conditions hotline at 905-335-7738, ext. 8587, before leaving to ensure the rink is open.
- Glen Abbey and Iroquois Ridge library branches in Oakville will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Milton Sports Centre
- Sherwood Community Centre
- Mattamy National Cycling Centre
- Toronto Premium Outlets from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Other major malls that are open:
– Square One (11 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
– Bramalea City Centre (11 a.m. – 6 p.m.)

- Most Halton Region offices and services, although all 24-hour/essential services remain open
- Provincial Government offices

- Burlington Centre and Mapleview Centre in Burlington
- Oakville Place in Oakville
- Milton Mall in Milton
Transit:
- Oakville Transit will operate on its holiday schedule between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
- Burlington Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule
- Milton Transit does not operate on holidays
- GO Transit will run on a Saturday schedule
Garbage:
No garbage pick up on Monday, Feb. 19 (all waste collection will be one day later than usual)
