If you’ve been finding it a little too hot outside (even though we should all take this time to appreciate the hot nights we were denied all summer), you aren’t going to get any relief today.
If you’ve been finding it a little too hot outside (even though we should all take this time to appreciate the hot nights we were denied all summer), you aren’t going to get any relief today.
Environment Canada recently announced that a heat warning is still in effect for Halton and Peel (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills).
The weather agency says that mostly sunny skies will allow daytime temperatures to reach the low thirties, with humidex values approaching 40 again today.
That said, this heat won’t last forever.
Environment Canada says a cold front is expected to move across Southern Ontario through the day Wednesday, bringing cooler temperatures by Thursday.
In the meantime, residents are advised to take proper precautions. Extreme heat affects everyone, but the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
To reduce your risk of heat-related illness, you might want to schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day and seek out shade, swimming pools or air conditioned buildings when the day is at its hottest.
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
