An explosion and fire completely destroyed a home in Ontario overnight.
It happened in the area of Line 3 and Peter Street in Oro-Medonte, north of Barrie.
Jenney Legget, the manager of communications and public relations for the township, told INsauga.com that emergency crews responded to the scene just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
It was reported as a structure fire, but once crews arrived, it was became apparent that something more had happened.
“On arrival, it was clear that the home was involved in some type of explosion, and it’s a complete loss,” Legget said.
A total of 30 firefighters responded to the scene, with local crews also requesting assistance from nearby Springwater Fire and Emergency Services.
No one was home at the time of the explosion and fire, and no injuries were reported.
It took firefighters around an hour and a half to get the blaze under control, Legget said.
There is no word on what may have caused the incident.
The Ontario Fire Marshal is now investigating.
