Halton Healthcare reports that all three hospitals under its jurisdiction are experiencing high patient volumes today (Jan. 3).
According to health agency, this means that those heading to the emergency departments at Georgetown Hospital, Milton District Hospital and Oakville Trafalgar Hospital are in for longer waits.
According to Halton Healthcare, patients can expect waits of over three hours to see a doctor at the Georgetown and Oakville facilites while in Milton it will take over two hours.
“We are always here to provide you emergency care, however we encourage you to consider other care options if your condition is not urgent,” reports Halton Healthcare via social media.
Halton Healthcare suggests if the situation is not an emergency, other healthcare options may be able to provide care more quickly.
These alternate healthcare options may include:
- Calling your family doctor or nurse practitioner and talking to your pharmacist
- Visiting an urgent care centre or walk-in clinic
- Visit Health 811 online or call 811 for access to a registered nurse 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Although Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington is located in Halton, it does not fall under the Halto Healthcare jurisdiction. Although Jospeh Brant warned of lengthy waits earlier this week, delays in seeing a doctor have not bee reported today.
