Excavator used to smash into bank, remove ATM in Toronto

An excavator was used to smash into a bank and remove an ATM in Toronto early Tuesday.

Toronto police said that officers were called to the area of Bathurst Street and Lawrence Avenue West at 4:26 a.m.

Police said there were reports of an excavator that had gone into a financial institution and “significant damage to the property.”

In an update, police said an ATM was removed, though it’s not clear how much cash was taken.

There’s no word on any suspect information.

Images posted on social media show severe damage to the front of a TD bank, with the excavator left at the scene.

Anyone with information was asked to contact police.
