While the real estate market is somewhat more stable with prices throughout the province (and in the GTA in particular) climbing only slightly year-over-year, some luxurious properties are still selling for millions–and they aren’t your ordinary family homes.
Recently, real estate brokerage and website Zoocasa rounded up the five most expensive homes that changed hands in Ontario in October and not unexpectedly, three homes in Toronto made the list.
One interesting listing is a massive luxury cottage near the Muskoka community of Port Carling.
The lakefront property, located at 24 – 1121 Scarcliffe Rd., sold for $13,500,000 after being listed for $13,995,000 in May. The house, which spans over 7,300 square feet, appears brand new, with an open-concept, all-white interior that features huge windows, top-of-the-line appliances, a fireplace, a sizeable wine cellar, a full bar and an absolutely enormous laundry room.
The cottage, which sold for less than a palatial estate in Mississauga that broke records when it went for $17 million, boasts five bedrooms, six bathrooms, parking spaces for up to 12 vehicles and over 400 feet of waterfront space. The home also boasts a spacious three-slip boathouse with expansive decks and second-story accommodations with two bedrooms and a kitchenette.
The main house has (fittingly) a Muskoka Room and each bedroom comes with an ensuite bathroom.
“Situated on a level lot for easy access and enjoyment, this prime location provides quick access to local amenities, dining, and entertainment options in Port Carling, while still enjoying the tranquillity of lakefront living,” the listing reads.
Another home in the top five list of most expensive properties includes the aforementioned Saint George mansion on Doulton Drive. Sold by Sam McDadi Real Estate Brokerage, that 25,000-square-foot house, which has been off and on the market since 2019, is the most expensive home ever sold in Mississauga and the highest-priced home sold in the GTA in 2024.
Another house on the list is 17 Chieftain Cres, a North York property that sold for $12 million after being listed for $13,988,000 in June. That house features five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, parking spaces for up to 11 vehicles, heated floors and a fully-panelled theatre room with reclining seats.
Another Toronto home located at 6 Lamport Ave. in Toronto’s swanky Rosedale neighbourhood sold for $10,600,000 after being listed for $11,300,000 in July and October. That home boasts four bedrooms, seven bathrooms, 10-foot ceilings and views of the ravine.
Another home in Toronto also sold for over $8 million. The house at 60 Dunvegan Rd., located in the city’s Forest Hill community, sold for $8,200,000 after being listed for $8,895,000 in September. The house features over 9,000 square feet of space, a gourmet eat-in kitchen, a main floor office, a sunroom and a backyard oasis.
