Education and child-care workers are receiving priority access to COVID-19 vaccination appointments they can book at a mass vaccination clinic at the International Centre in Mississauga.

Amid criticism it wasn’t doing enough to ensure a safe return to school scheduled for Jan. 17, the Ontario government announced today it is setting aside an unspecified number of appointments for those workers to book at the International Centre on Airport Rd.

According to the Province, the appointments will be available between 4:30 and 8 p.m. seven days a week starting tomorrow (Jan. 7).

Education and child-care workers looking to book appointments for their booster shots can do so by calling Ontario’s vaccine hotline at 1-833-943-3900.

The provincial government says it’s also working with public health units to provide similar priority access to education and child-care workers outside the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

Earlier today, city officials in Toronto announced they’d set aside 3,500 appointments for education workers over the next two weekends.

Earlier this week, the provincial government announced it would keep schools closed until at least Jan. 17 in the face of a dramatic spike in COVID-19 cases caused by the new Omicron variant.
