A dump truck crash has closed down lanes on the QEW for the second time this week.
This time, the truck hit an overhead sign on the QEW in the Niagara Region, according to a post on X from the OPP today (June 14) around 12:30 p.m.
All northbound lanes of the QEW at Mountain Road in Niagara Falls are expected to be closed for about three hours.
The dump truck had its box up when it hit the overhead sign, police said. The sign needs to be removed.
The driver returned to the scene and will be charged, police added.
This incident follows a dump truck crash on Tuesday that closed the QEW in Mississauga. The truck hit a bridge overpass that goes over the QEW between Cawthra Road and Dixie Road.
In 2022, a similar incident happened on Highway 401 in Mississauga. In this crash, the dump truck driver also failed to put the box down and smashed into a bridge.
