A Mississauga resident is dead after two swimmers were pulled from Lake Huron this week, police say.

The incident happened on Tuesday in Bruce County when the OPP says emergency crews were called to assist two people “in distress” swimming at Sauble Beach in Lake Huron.

Police say both swimmers were pulled to shore and one of the victims required lifesaving measures.

A 22-year-old victim from Mississauga was pronounced dead, police say.

Investigators say the identity of the victim will not be released due to the privacy of the family.

The OPP said bystanders and Good Samaritans helped with the rescue, and police thanked members of the public for their assistance.
