Drivers on the Don Valley Parkway in Toronto “may be unaware” they hit a pedestrian Thursday morning, police say.
Toronto police said that at around 11:09 a.m., officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the DVP and Richmond Street East exit ramp area.
A 48-year-old man was driving a brown 2021 Toyota Tundra south on the DVP approaching the Richmond Street East exit ramp and an unidentified male pedestrian was on the ramp, police said.
“The driver of the Toyota Tundra struck the male pedestrian and stopped his vehicle a short distance away and remained on scene,” police said.
“It is believed that other vehicles also struck the male pedestrian, however, they may be unaware that it was a pedestrian and left.”
The victim died at the scene.
Police said an investigation is ongoing.
Anyone who was in the area at the time and on the off-ramp was asked to contact investigators. Officers also asked that anyone with dashcam footage of the area or incident come forward.
