A driver was hit in the face in yet another reported rock-throwing incident now under investigation by police in Ontario.

York Regional Police said Tuesday that its officers are looking into two incidents of rocks being thrown at moving vehicles and are working with the Ontario Provincial Police, who are investigating several similar reports.

At around 1 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, York officers responded to a report of property damage and learned that a vehicle heading east on 16th Avenue near Mingay Avenue was hit by a large rock, police said.

The driver told police that it came from a vehicle that was heading in the opposite direction.

Around 30 minutes later, a driver in the Stouffville and McCowan roads area called to report that a rock was thrown at his windshield, hitting him in the face, police said.

The driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

York police said they’re liaising with the OPP, who are investigating several reported rock-throwing incidents that have occurred in the Markham area over the past number of weeks.

One of those resulted in a serious crash that left two people with life-threatening injuries, OPP said.

One of the victims in the crash has since stabilized and is recovering, while the other remains in hospital in critical condition, OPP said Sunday.

Anyone with information was asked to come forward.
