Brampton civic hospital Healing music musicians wanted osler health

Local musicians can use their talents to brighten the day of patients and take care of the sick at Brampton Civic Hospital.

The William Osler Health System is looking for dozens of musicians for its Healing Music program, which brings performers to Brampton Civic to perform for patients and visitors.

Musicians can either play on Osler’s grand piano in the main lobby or bring their own instruments to perform in the acute care for the elderly unit.

“By sharing your time, you can help patients relax, recover and restore in a comforting and enjoyable environment,” Osler said in a release.

There are 50 volunteer positions open for the Healing Music program and applicants must be at least 15 years old and fluent in English, both verbal and written. Osler says performers who speak additional languages “may be beneficial.” Osler says it is looking for “dependable and committed” musicians as the program has a 60-hour minimum.

Applicants will need to perform an audition and pianists should have a minimum Grade 6 piano level education or equivalent experience.

Osler says the Healing Music program is part of its mission of providing “patient-inspired healthcare without boundaries” and can provide a volunteering opportunity for anyone looking to make a difference in the community by sharing their musical talents.
