A dog stolen during a Toronto carjacking has been found in Brampton.
The dog was in the back of a white Jeep Grand Cherokee when it was stolen from the Bloor Street West and The East Mall area on Wednesday at approximately 8:50 a.m., Toronto Police said.
Peel Regional Police found the stolen Jeep in the Hurontario Street and Mayfield Road area of Brampton on Wednesday just after 11 p.m., Toronto Police said. The missing chocolate lab named Roxy was not in the vehicle.
Later, police got a tip from the public that Roxy and the suspect were at a home in Brampton, a Toronto Police spokesperson told INsauga.com.
Officers found the dog at the home and arrested a suspect.
“Roxy is being reunited with her family,” the spokesperson said.
Peel police later posted that the dog was safe and in good health.
More information on charges is expected later today.
Reports indicate the victim is a father who was dropping off his child at school when his SUV was taken. He realized later that Roxy was still in the vehicle.
