The Ontario Racquet Club in Mississauga is one of Canada's best tennis facilities

It’s a good time to be a tennis fan in Mississauga – after all, the city’s Ontario Racquet Club (ORC) was the host for the Under 18 Fischer Indoor Nationals this year.

Located at 884 Southdown Rd in Clarkson, the sports club is one of the most popular places to play indoor racquet sports such as tennis, squash, pickleball and badminton all year round. ORC was actually just awarded Large Club of the Year 2022 by the Club Management Association of Canada.

Earlier this year, young tennis pros from all over the country attended ORC for the 2022 Fischer Junior Nationals, facing off against other tennis professionals all under 18 years of age.

The abundance of young, highly skilled tennis players in Canada comes as no surprise. Tennis has been widely lauded as one of the most popular sports in the world, and as a non-contact sport, it’s easily accessible to players of all age groups.

Those who already love tennis, or are still starting out and trying to get better, are invited to check out the Ontario Racquet Club and see why so many players have made it their go-to tennis spot.

There are a few big reasons for the club’s popularity:

ORC is one of the only gold-rated tennis facilities in Canada.

With some of the most qualified instructors and best player results in the country, the ORC holds the distinction of being one of just five gold-rated tennis facilities in all of Canada. Boasting a spacious size of 150,000 square feet on 8 1/2 acres, the facility has more than enough space and resources to accommodate all kinds of players – beginner or advanced, young or old, competitive or social.

15 all-season courts, an aquatics centre, and a fitness centre.

There’s no shortage of options with ORC’s six indoor courts and nine outdoor summer courts, perfect not just for tennis but for squash, pickleball and badminton as well. For those who also enjoy swimming and water sports, the club’s aquatics centre features a year-round indoor pool and a beautiful open air glass enclosure with a retractable roof. And the club’s fitness centre is perfect for working out or doing some yoga, either solo or with a group.

A variety of leagues, socials, classes and more.

Tennis isn’t just fun, it’s also a great way to meet new people and stay active. The ORC exemplifies that by offering a range of leagues, socials and classes to help players stay competitive and bring their game to the next level. Regular activities include weekly junior tennis lessons, ORC Tennis Academy, adult tennis programs, minor leagues, and wheelchair tennis.

Other facilities include the club’s very own restaurant with a range of dinner options, and the ORC playcentre where young children are supervised and entertained.

The ORC has something for everyone, from newcomers to tennis pros, with experiences that are casual, competitive, and everything in between. Memberships are available to those who want to take full advantage of the club’s offerings (click here to learn more).
