A progress report on the redevelopment of the old Peel Memorial Hospital site in Brampton heads the list of agenda items for an upcoming public meeting by William Osler Health System.

The conversion of the old site on Lynch Street into a full-fledged modern hospital is currently going through the planning stages but once complete will house hospital beds and an emergency department. Construction is expected to begin next year.

It is expected the new hospital that will emerge will increase health care capacity in the community and address the need for more specialized care for patients requiring longer hospital stays.

Other topics that will be addressed during the telephone town hall meeting include Osler’s new five-year strategic plan and the launch of the Osler Research Institute for Health.

The session will take place Dec. 5 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Participants in the town hall will have a chance to ask questions, share feedback, and engage in discussions that are important to them. Questions can be submitted through Osler’s website ahead of the event or asked live during the session.

The telephone town hall will be hosted by Dr. Frank Martino, Osler’s President and CEO, and moderated by Gurjit Kaur Bains, a member of Osler’s Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). Other hospital staff will be available to answer questions.

How to Participate: On Thursday, Dec. 5, starting at 6:50 p.m., Osler will call residents via landline to connect them directly to the meeting. Residents can also pre-register and submit questions online at www.williamoslerhs.ca/townhall or leave a voicemail with their name and phone number at 905-494-2120 ext. 50200 before noon on Dec. 5.
