Dec. 8 weather: Up to 10 cm snow and 50 km winds headed to southern Ontario

More snow is on the way, with some areas expected to see higher totals than others. High winds and rain will also add to the mix, creating messy conditions across southern Ontario.

Early risers hoping for a colourful morning sky during Sunday’s 7:38 a.m. sunrise will be out of luck, with clouds expected to block the view.

Ontario residents will wake up to overnight snow with 2 cm in Mississauga, Brampton, Halton and Hamilton, whereas Durham will see the most snow, ranging between 5 cm and 10 cm.

The skies will remain cloudy throughout the morning, bringing a mix of rain and snow— making for a dreary start to the day.

Winds are expected to pick up across the region, reaching 20 km/h in Mississauga and Brampton, 40 km/h in Durham and Halton, and peaking at 50 km/h in Hamilton. The gusty conditions are anticipated to ease by late afternoon. Daytime highs will rise to 5 C across all cities.

Cloudy skies will linger into the evening as temperatures drop. Mississauga, Brampton, and Halton will see temperatures around 0 C, while Durham will hover just above freezing at 1 C, and Hamilton will be the warmest at 2 C.

The rest of the week will bring rainy and cloudy weather, starting Monday with showers continuing into Tuesday before transitioning to light flurries from Wednesday through Friday. Daytime highs will range from 4 C to 7 C early in the week, dropping to -5 C on Thursday and -3 C on Friday. Evening lows will fall from 3 C Monday night to as low as -8 C by Thursday and Friday night.
