Flurries in the forecast and a recent dump of snow mean it should be a white Christmas Day for Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto, Niagara Falls and much of southern Ontario.
While parts of the province will be in for warmer weather on the weekend, the forecast from Environment Canada for Wednesday will bring a mix of snow and freezing drizzle to the Greater Toronto Area.
The morning will bring a risk of freezing drizzle to Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto, Halton Region and Durham Region, while there’s a 30 per cent chance of flurries in Hamilton, the Niagara Falls area, Sarnia, London and elsewhere in Ontario.
Tuesday’s flakes combined with snow leftover from Monday could translate to a white Christmas for many parts of Ontario, meeting Environment and Climate Change Canada’s criteria of having two cm of snow or more on the ground at 7 a.m. on Dec. 25.
But with snow comes cold, and southern Ontario will see a daytime high of around 1 C which will feel more like -8 C in Mississauga and Brampton and staying stable through the evening.
Things will feel colder in Oshawa at around -10 C with the wind chill down to -13 C in parts of Durham Region.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday and Sunday have highs of around 8 C in Mississauga, Brampton, Burlington, Oakville and Toronto.
